Bar Council Slams Court Access Restrictions

A touch of Tabloid in that heading, but the compression was needed.

Basically, in their latest newsletter to barristers, the Bar Council of Ireland has said that the restrictions on access to the Four Courts complex, introduced on security grounds, are unacceptable. They say that they have conveyed the very strong negative reaction to the ‘pod’ systems of access from their members to the Courts Service.

They also point out that they were introduced with no meaningful consultation with the Court’s users.

The Courts Service have promised to review the matter.

I, similarly promise to review the plans for a Metro system in Dublin.
Both reviews are as likely to influence the facts on the ground.

There may be more detail on the Bar Council’s position later. But I’d like to say to them- welcome to the party!
