Now Irish bloggers can have the same mix of excitement and bewilderment (“What’s with all the Jilly Cooper? Do I really know the Professor at all?”) by pawing through their fellows’ virtual libraries on LibraryThing.

Pop over to the Midnight Court to see the links to various blogger collections and don’t miss the comments.

Amongst the gems is Kevin, of the Disillusioned Lefty, explaining away his ownership of epic blockbuster North and South.

North and South, indeed. I bought it because I saw the current herself reading it in school and thought I should probably find something to talk about and woo with at forthcoming parties. Terrible move, but that doesn’t matter anymore really. Not a bad book though – a would-be blurb which fully justifies Auds’ capitalisation of the word “big.???

EDIT: Simon’s collection. Fergal’s collection.

More edits: If I owned a dating agency I’d make all my prospective clients upload their whole book collections onto LibraryThing and then spend the rest of my life going to weddings.

According to the site I have very obscure tastes. But that’s probably because they’re comparing me to a very US weighted average. I’d say I’d be pretty middle of the road from an Irish point of view. With maybe a hint of specialisation in children’s books.

I spent last week with a pal in Donegal who was reading Eamon Holmes’s autobiography.
We teased her mercilessly all week with quips like “whats he saying now eh? ‘Missed the plane to Belfast so had a kit kat and tea, it was substantial. Then I caught the next plane, which was great!

I don’t think I could get through Holmes’ autobiography. The orgies and violence would be too graphic.
