Courts Service FOI response

Dated 4th Oct
re: Request for documents under S 18 FOI Act (as amended)
I wish to acknowledge receipt of your letter of 2nd October 2005 regarding the above. I have forwarded a copy of your letter to XXX FOI officer, who will respond directly to you.

Yours
PJ Fitzpatrick

Now I await the response, within the alloted time. Anyone else who thinks they have been materially affected by the new security obstructions introduced might also be interested in requesting a statement under S 18 FOI of the reasoning behind the decision to bring them in.

Given the proud tradition of the public being let see justice being done (except when we’re doing it to families or terrorists and the like) I’d feel a material impact – apart from anything else, what are poor students going to do now if their TV breaks down – in my day a few days of a good murder adequately compensated for missing Fair City. 😉

Another thought… if the reason for the imposition of these measures is to ensure security of the judiciary and their ilk, what are the plans for the rural circuit and district courts? Far from dragging the Courts Service into the 21st Century of security, some of the those courthouses could do with being nudged gently into the 20th Century. (much like some of our dilapidated rural garda stations).

Did Deloitte and Touche help design the security systems? ;-*
