Ciaran Cuffe Asleep at the Handlebars?

Ciaran Cuffe is the Green Party’s spokesman on Justice and a TD for Dun Laoghaire. He has a blog.
Taking a look, the only recent Justice related posting is on a visit to Templemore on Minority Recruitment Day.

Now, I’m interested to hear that they have a Minority Recruitment Day, don’t get me wrong. All in favour of it. And he also mentions at the end of his post that perhaps the trainee Gardai might benefit from spending a bit of time away from their blue ghetto, mixing with other students in colleges or universities. Who could be against that?

But if I were a Green Party voter, or potential voter, I would like to hear more about such mundane matters as the CPI controversy, the introduction of mandatory phone and internet monitoring, the recently announced plans to bring in Automatic Number Plate Recognition CCTV and the announced summit on the introduction of ID cards and their accompanying databases to Ireland for the UK’s administrative convenience. All these things have been making the news since December 2005 and all of them are in his baliwick.

Perhaps a little something on what the Green Party are doing/thinking/saying on all these issues might be good too. He could even take a leaf out of Damien Blake’s book and tell us in the comments.

In fairness to Ciarán, his blog isn’t policy-driven. His press releases are, as are the relevant sections on his website.
