In the context of the jailing of five Mayo men for contempt of court I have today delivered an open letter to Mr Noel Dempsey, Minister for Communications Marine and Natural Resources. It seeks 21 points of information, including the release of documentation, persuant to Council Directive 2003/4/EC. The full text of this letter is available to read on Tuppenceworth.
The significant difference between Grokster and Sony is that whereas Sony suggested that a mere potentiality of legitimate use would be enough to save a technology, Grokster looks to the intent of the distributor.
I'll leave it to Shoegal to expound on the joys of suddenly owning a Zen Micro. My only contribution is to point out the method of using it while also owning a Mac. The Zen matches the Mac quite nicely, with a sleek white back and cheerful coloured facia.
Some time ago over on the main site I wrote about the MGM v Grokster case in the Supreme Court of the United States (or SCOTUS as the online law nerds like to call it). Well the decision's in, and contrary to what some of the commentators have been saying, it's a reaonable enough judgement, delivered by the moderate Justice David Souter.
I had an odd conversation with the OPW on the phone this week when I rang them up to check that the objection had reached its intended destination.
I could sell this valuable land I'm not using and use the money I get to buy affordable (ie poorly build, and far away) housing. Or- OR. - I could see if I could swap the land, whose value I'm not really sure of for some houses from this nice man I met at the Galway Races.
Posting this as a test of a little Dashboard widget. But have been thinking of new ways to throw logs in the path of oncoming OPWs. Though to remain effective, I have to be circumspect, I have come up with quite a good one.

In all, we had 20something objectors. Thank you to everyone who contacted me with support. There was some mild comedy attempting to find someone willing to accept the objection (I don't think it happens that often) but I think all was well by the end.
