I'm currently keeping the link on the left to the Freedom Institute- a group of righty-fighty types- under review. (Our Evil Twin) Whether they will stay on the list of blogs will depend on their response to the uproar over the ugly post on immigration headed McDowell Hits Nail On The Head. There are now 79 comments in response.
The part of the tale of the Emperor’s New Clothes that is often forgotten is what happens after the little boy in the crowd shouts his heresy. You might think that his shout would break the spell, and the brute reality would dawn on all participants, the king suddenly grabbing a coat from a minion to preserve his modesty.
I have recently spent more time than is healthy flicking through the suggestions proposed to Your Country, Your Call, Ireland’s latest doomed exercise in Magical Thinking. They are hilarious, of course, but there’s a desperate edge to much of my laughter. Because the ideas are not just stupid.
The Data Protection Commissioner's Office today confirmed that, having investigated the Primary Online Database, they found that parental concerns raised were valid and that, even following changes to the scheme in April, the POD would require further legislation to be lawful.

The JobBridge scheme has now been extended so that employers may have access to state-subsidised labour for up to 18 months.
